Viewing
This Web Site
This web site has been designed
to operate best on Windows Explorer 5.0 or later (6 or 7). It
has also, as best as possible, been designed to work well with
Mozilla Firefox, Safari (Mac systems), and Netscape, browsers.
This web site uses frames and JavaScript to present information
and images interactively. All of these should work with the
default settings of most browsers. However, if things do not
seem to be working as they should some adjustments to your
browser settings may need to be made which are described below
for the various browsers. These adjustments are necessary to
overcome certain security settings that are over-restrictive in
what is allowed during web browsing. In general you must
allow JavaScript to run. This is incorporated in most recent
browsers but needs to be enabled (default setting) if it has
been disabled.
There is no malicious or
malevolent content (ActiveX, viruses, spyware, etc.) that could
be downloaded on to your computer from this website. By allowing
certain features to work you will not be endangering your
computer while you are at this site. This is our 100% assurance.
If you follow these procedures
and still can not view images or the web site properly you can
email us at dsl@darcyleck.com, providing your browser version
and tell us what the problem is, and we will try to give some
advice to help you, although we are no experts in this area.

Internet Explorer.
The default security settings
will allow you to view all aspects and features of this site.
However, if you get a
Information Bar warning that states
"To help protect your
security, Internet Explorer has restricted this webpage from
running scripts or ActiveX controls that could access your
computer. Click here for options...",
click on the
Information Bar
and select "Allow
Blocked Content".
A box will pop up and state "Allowing
active content such as script and ActiveX controls can be
useful, but active content might also harm your computer, Are
you sure you want to let this file run active content?"
Select "Yes".
This will only affect your browsing on this particular web site.
This will allow active content, specifically JavaScript, to run
which is necessary to view images on this web site. Or, you
could do the following to stop blocking file and software
downloads with the Information Bar:
Information Bar
If Internet Explorer
default settings are on, you'll see the Information Bar when a
Web site tries to:
-
Install an ActiveX control on
your computer.
-
Open a pop-up window.
-
Download a file to your
computer.
-
Run active content on your
computer.
-
Run an ActiveX control on
your computer in an unsafe manner.
You get notified when Internet
Explorer blocks:
-
A control or active content
on a Web page. Internet Explorer still allows the rest of
the Web page to open, which lets you see how the Web page
works without the control. Many times you will not notice
any difference, but your computer is less vulnerable when
you don't install controls that you don't need.
-
A Web site from downloading a
file to your computer. It will still allow you to download
the file if you want to, but this prevents the Web site from
downloading any files without your knowledge or permission.
This procedure will allow Web
sites to automatically prompt you when downloading files and
software (bypassing the Information Bar). This turns the
Information Bar off for these features.
-
Open Internet Explorer.
-
On the
Tools
menu, click
Internet Options.
-
On the Security tab,
click Custom Level.
-
Do one or both of the
following:
-
To turn off the
Information Bar for file downloads, in the
Downloads
section of the list, under
Automatic prompting
for file downloads,
click Enable.
-
To turn off the
Information Bar for ActiveX controls, in the
ActiveX controls and
plug-ins
section of the list, under
Automatic prompting
for ActiveX controls,
click Enable.

Mozilla Firefox 2.0
The default settings of Mozilla
Firefox allows this web site to work fine. If it doesn't,
particularly if images do not change when thumbnails are clicked
on, it may be that certain settings under
Tools - Options - Content
have been deselected. Go to
Tools
- Options -
Content in Firefox
2.0 and place a check mark in "Enable
JavaScript and
Enable Java,
It is particularly important to select
"Enable JavaScript",
In Firefox 1.5 you may have to then click the
"Advanced"
button and be sure to select the "change
images"
option under
"Allow scripts to :"
Netscape Navigator
I have tested this web site on
Netscape Navigator 8.0 and all works well at the default
settings. It should also work in Netscape versions 6 and 7. As
with Mozilla Firefox you should make sure that JavaScript is
enabled. You do this by going to
Tools - Options
in the menu bar then select the
Site Control
icon along the left side of
Options
window. In the Site Control panel under
Site Features
make sure "Enable
JavaScript" and
"Enable Java"
are selected, and then click the
"Advanced"
button and be sure to select the
"change images"
option under
"Allow scripts to :"
Safari
Everything should work fine in
the Safari browser at default settings. Although, it has been
noted that some things are not positioned as accurately as in
other browsers, and images images appear lighter as the Gamma of
Apple machines is set at 1.8 instead of 2.2.
